About the Role

As an NDE Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the manufacturing of naval nuclear components by overseeing nondestructive testing (NDT) activities, maintaining qualification programs, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards. This role provides technical guidance, drives process improvements, and upholds quality and safety throughout the inspection process.

Location: On-site in Euclid, Ohio

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of NDT personnel, maintain records of qualification, monitoring, and reinspection.
• Obtain and maintain examiner qualifications in one or more NDT methods: VT, PT, MT, UT, RT, with an initial focus on VT and PT.
• Review, write, and qualify NDT procedures as required per NAVSEA 250-1500-1 and MIL-STD-2132.
• Resolve major NDT and supplier quality problems, including exceptions and submittals (DSRs, RARs, and RECs).
• Design, improve, and implement inspection fixtures to increase safety and efficiency.
• Review and disposition non-conforming hardware.
• Create and maintain business systems in accordance with contract requirements for NDT and Supplier Quality.
• Review vendor procedures, inventory transfers, data history books, and supplier technical requirements.
• Review manufacturing process routers and sketches to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Troubleshoot welding, manufacturing, inspection, and test processes as issues arise.
• Participate in projects such as Lean/Six Sigma teams or process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Must be capable of qualifying as an NDT Examiner for Navy specifications NAVSEA 250-1500-1 for welds, MIL-STD-2132 for base materials, and NSTR-99 personnel qualification.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience/certifications in VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT preferred.
• Proficient with computer software to create, modify, and analyze complex 2D or 3D technical drawings and models.
• Advanced skills with data modeling and analysis using Excel, Power BI, and SAP.
• Understanding of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Pay

The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) is expected to be between $79,000 and $119,000 per year. The base salary offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. The total compensation package may also include an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits.
