NDC Structural Design Engineer

Basic Job Functions

• Provide structural engineering services and guidance for internal Nucor divisions including the design/analysis of conventional steel structures, connections, truss & box girders, lifting devices, reinforcement details, and basic foundations.
• Use structural engineering principles and proprietary software to design steels joists and joist girders to ensure public safety.
• Work closely with Detailing, Shop Order, and Production teammates to ensure quality and on-time delivery of products.
• Promote our products by being involved in business development activities such as direct engagement with industry professionals, delivering lunch-and-learn presentations, and being an exhibitor at trade shows.
• Embrace opportunities to develop self and invest in team through mentorship and engagement in professional development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam prior to hire date
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications

• PE license or desire, ability, and dedication to obtain a license
• MS in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Familiarity with metal building systems and MBMA common practices, current building codes, and AISC specification
