Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, test, and maintain NCBI bioinformatics software and information retrieval systems.
- Collaborate with a diverse group of scientists, bioinformaticians, and other developers within the center to implement efficient bioinformatics algorithms.
- Stay updated on new technologies, internal systems, and share knowledge with the team.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience handling large amounts of data or working in a distributed computing environment.
- Proven programming experience in a Linux environment.
- Experience with MS SQL server and proficiency in relational database design and optimization.
- Fluency in at least one scripting language such as BASH, csh, Perl, or Python.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience working with genetic and biological data.
- Expertise in Python and/or JavaScript, along with familiarity with their associated ecosystems.
- Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL database technologies.
- Experience with Docker or similar containerization mechanisms.
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, unit testing, integration, and regression testing.
- Experience using GitHub for version control and collaboration.
- Experience with cloud technologies is a strong plus.
