Position Summary

The USA Triathlon Internship Program offers unique opportunities to contribute to the largest multisport organization in the world and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of triathlon and other multisport disciplines. Internships are unpaid but specifically designed to provide a rich educational environment for students studying and/or those seeking a career in recreation, athletics, sports management, communication, event planning, or relationship management.

Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborate with the NCAA Triathlon program team, coaches, and key stakeholders to gain exposure to collegiate sport administration and program development.
  • Lead and complete project-based assignments that align with the intern’s academic and professional interests within sports management, communications, marketing, analytics, or athlete development.
  • Aid in the development of creative storytelling initiatives, including video projects, social media content, and promotional materials that highlight NCAA triathlon programs and student-athlete experiences.
  • Conduct research and analyze trends related to collegiate triathlon growth, recruitment strategies, and student-athlete engagement across NCAA divisions.
  • Contribute to projects involving data collection, organization, and database management to better understand stakeholder communication and program operations.
  • Propose ideas and strategic recommendations related to recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives for NCAA triathlon programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional staff, volunteers, and the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association to understand the role of partnership-building in sport growth initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in, or recently graduated from, an educational program in recreation, athletics, sports management, communication, event planning, relationship management, or a related field.
  • Collegiate varsity sports programming is a plus.

Self-motivation and Skills

  • Self-motivated and goal-driven; willing to take on diverse roles and responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and proficiency in technological systems.

Expectations

  • Provide 8-10 hours a week of support as part of a 12-month commitment.
  • Participate in weekly calls with the intern team and staff.
  • Travel to various event destinations, if needed.
  • This is an unpaid remote position. Interns have no guarantee of any paid position at the end of the internship.
