About the Role

Join our passionate team and help shape the future of the beverage industry! The Brown-Forman Specialist (On & Off) is a hands-on position meant to drive sales volume and brand visibility of Brown-Forman’s brands. This role achieves success through the activation of national brand platforms in local bars, restaurants, and retail, targeting consumers as well as hospitality professionals. Responsibilities include sales, target account management, brand and category training, and the tactical activation of creative, engaging brand experiences in on-premise, off-premise, and non-traditional venues.

This role involves collaboration with local distributor brokers to facilitate target account programs, ensuring strategic sales growth and successful consumer engagement. While responsible for many brands in Brown-Forman’s portfolio, the breakdown of time spent on each brand will be determined by national brand priorities and local market needs.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate with managers and appropriate parties, clearly expressing ideas both orally and in writing.
  • Assist and support coworkers, working cooperatively in groups and resolving conflicts with tact and teamwork.
  • Meet all commitments and deadlines, responding promptly to Brown-Forman needs.
  • Set expectations and monitor delegated activities in collaboration with the local team, providing recognition for results.
  • Exhibit sound judgment and support decisions with clear reasoning.
  • Communicate the essence of Brown-Forman brands through the execution of all program events within the market.
  • Create, cultivate, and manage relationships with multicultural consumers and trade partners aligned with brand priorities and target demographics.
  • Fully understand and abide by all legal and digital compliance standards.
  • Grow share of NABCA TDS for Brown-Forman in the targeted account universe.
  • Master the full history and brand-related facts of the promotable brand portfolio to become the expert.
  • Work with Brown-Forman field sales teams, distributor representatives, and key account contacts to manage and execute promotional brand objectives.
  • Execute on- and off-premise promotions, activations, special events, and Brown-Forman programs.
  • Schedule promotions and events at target accounts in conjunction with Brown-Forman, distributor management, and sales reps.
  • Provide timely feedback on event effectiveness, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Manage sales to a key set of on- and off-premise accounts (approximately 50) in the target market, guided by Brown-Forman brand priorities.
  • Ensure proper brand positioning and messaging in the target market’s digital and physical spaces.
  • Seek out and lead creative planning and execution of brand activations in non-traditional spaces (e.g., digital, in-home activations).
  • Integrate multicultural accounts into the target account list aligned with demographics, brand priorities, and consumer profiles.
  • Develop an effective target account universe that drives share gains in top revenue-producing accounts within the state.
  • Partner with Field Marketing Managers to develop creative consumer-facing activation plans that bring national brand platforms to life in target market accounts.
  • Manage the activation of consumer-facing events, including planning and promotion, in partnership with target accounts.
  • Leverage activations for brand distribution, menu features, placements, and case displays in the target account set.
  • Communicate market activities to management, showcasing volume and visibility wins.
  • Act as the key point of contact for coordinating merchandise/POS delivery to promote national brand platforms in key accounts.
  • Work closely with distributors to communicate brand expectations and ensure correct consumer and trade engagement.
  • Build long-term brand presence and relationships with hospitality professionals in target accounts.

Financial Management

  • Strictly manage the strategic activation budget by monitoring expenses and aligning them with brand guidelines.
  • Manage ROI on spends and create solutions to increase budget effectiveness.
  • Oversee target accounts’ POS orders, delivery, and implementation for target brands.
  • Maintain and track personal expense reporting and trackers for market activities.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred; marketing/business experience a plus.
  • Clean driving record.
  • 2-3 years of industry experience and a passion for the spirits industry; premium whiskey category knowledge is a definite plus.
  • Fluent in English.
  • General computer knowledge and ability to work with programs on an iPad.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; strong training and media handling abilities.
  • Confidence working in a range of on- and off-premise environments, from high-end hotels to dive bars.
  • Organized, ambitious, self-starter with an outgoing, charismatic personality; independent yet a team player.
  • In-depth understanding of target consumers, spirit brand priorities, and the three-tiered system of selling.
  • Adept at selling and interacting with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Extensive drive time within the market required; reliable transportation is a must.
  • Ability to lift 20+ pounds at one time.
