About the Role
Performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, including cleaning guest rooms, interior public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces.
Responsibilities
- Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, and moving items.
- Operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, waxers, and polishers.
- Empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes, and polishes room furniture.
- Washes walls, partitions, air vents, disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls, lavatories, and other bathroom fixtures.
- Washes and replaces window treatments, cleans ceiling fixtures, and changes light bulbs using ladders and scaffolds.
- Moves furniture to clean under and behind, and uses step stools to clean windows, cabinet tops, mirrors, and picture frames.
- Cleans kitchen areas, including stoves, ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, cabinets, and floors; washes and disinfects dishes, utensils, and cookware.
- Cleans and ensures proper functionality of luggage racks, hangers, TVs, alarm clocks, and in-room phones.
- Places proper number of amenities in rooms, removes and replaces bed linen, and inspects mattresses and pull-out sofas.
- Greets and welcomes guests while maintaining outstanding guest relations and ensuring privacy and security.
- Cleans, vacuums, and mops corridors, stairways, guest laundry, patios, and balconies.
- Shampoos rugs, carpets, and polishes rails of stairways on a regular basis.
- Performs deep cleaning as required, including defrosting refrigerators, cleaning windows inside and out, and spot-treating carpets.
- Maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms and communicates the status of cleaned rooms to supervisors.
- Accomplishes minor repairs and maintenance of equipment and reports major repair needs to supervisors.
- Cleans and inspects exterior spaces such as parking lots and outside passageways.
- May load and unload trucks or vans and assist with receiving, assembling, storing, and delivering supplies.
- Uses hand tools such as hammers, pliers, box cutters, and crowbars for various tasks.
- Manages pass keys and other assigned keys, returning them at the end of each shift.
- Reports unusual circumstances, such as unauthorized pets, extra guests, or missing luggage, to supervisors.
- Handles lost and found items, reporting them to the housekeeping supervisor immediately.
- May set up, break down, and clean the complimentary self-service breakfast bar, including heating, displaying, and replenishing items.
- Completes all required safety and security training and maintains a clean and safe environment.
- Applies knowledge of blood-borne pathogens and safety measures for handling contaminated linens and personal care items.
- Follows all NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) protocols during daily service activity.
- Performs laundry operations at the facility.
- May be required to possess a valid state driver’s license for travel to other lodging facilities.
- May be required to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- No experience required.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Moderate physical effort, including moving furniture and using hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment.
Schedule
Part-time (20 - 34.5 hours per week).
