Navy Deck Administration Support
This position is located on-site in Pascagoula, Mississippi and includes a sign-on bonus as part of the offer.
Responsibilities
- Help Deck Division prepare for ATG and CREWCERT by walking the crew through their line handling stations, boat deck, anchor detail, and UNREP stations to familiarize them with the ship layout before assessments begin.
- Support Limited Training Teams (LTTs) by providing hands-on assistance during training evolutions to build crew proficiency before certification events.
- Conduct ship checks on weather decks to verify equipment installation matches specifications and drawings, including pelican hooks, life rings, davits, UNREP gear, helo tie-downs, etc.
- Track equipment inventory to ensure all required deck department gear is onboard, accounted for, and in the correct location.
- Bridge the gap between build specifications and fleet requirements by identifying discrepancies when the shipyard’s build differs from fleet needs, and work with SUPSHIP and PMS 339 to resolve them.
- Coordinate visits and inspections by scheduling and preparing for ATG walkdowns, ISIC visits, and other assessment events, and assist the crew with ASA checklists to ensure readiness for inspections.
- Research and answer deck department questions by pulling drawings and documentation to clarify specifications for particular stations or equipment.
- Deconflict competing priorities, such as shipyard work, training events, and inspections, to ensure smooth scheduling and access.
- Support aviation as needed, including flight deck certification prep, tie-down verification, and related tasks. Former Boatswain’s Mates (BM) and Aviation Boatswain’s Mates (AB) are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- High School Diploma plus 6 years of experience, with at least 4 years in a relevant role (preferably with Navy destroyers (DDG), amphibious Landing Platform Dock (LPD), and/or amphibious Landing Helicopter Assault (LHA) naval platforms).
- Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Experience in DECK operations and knowledge of US Navy operating, certification, training, and administrative procedures.
- Ability to physically maneuver onboard US Navy ships, including accessing high and confined spaces and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- US citizenship.
Qualifications
- Senior enlisted DECK personnel with experience in Search and Rescue (SAR), small boat operations, and ship aviation facilities are desirable.
- Boatswain’s Mates (BM) and Aviation Boatswain’s Mates (AB) with sea and anchor detail experience, ATG cycle familiarity, and knowledge of "ready for sea" standards on destroyers.
- Understanding of drawings and blueprints to support ship’s force.

Pay
The projected hourly salary range for this full-time position is USD $21.20 - USD $33.14. Compensation for part-time or on-call staff is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. Salary is determined by factors such as education, certifications, skills, experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, and contract-specific requirements.
