About the role

We are seeking a Navigation Engineer to develop navigation algorithms, support a technically diverse team, and conduct detailed analyses related to spacecraft navigation. This role will contribute to multiple projects, including the CAPSTONE mission, the Oracle mission for space situational awareness at the Moon, and infrastructure for commercial, civil, and national security lunar missions. The position is primarily on-premises at our Westminster, Colorado office and requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on spacecraft navigation, mission design, and technology development.

This position is open to U.S. Persons only (U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents) and does not provide visa sponsorship or work authorization support.

Responsibilities

  • Apply state estimation and Kalman filter fundamentals
  • Work with common navigation filter architectures
  • Perform orbit determination analyses for defined mission scenarios
  • Configure force models, measurement models, and estimation setups
  • Process and assess radiometric, optical, GPS, or similar tracking data
  • Conduct data editing, residual assessment, and basic filter diagnostics
  • Perform covariance analysis and interpret navigation uncertainty
  • Use astrodynamics/navigation tools such as Monte or similar accepted tools
  • Develop scripts and software to support navigation analysis workflows and ground or flight software algorithms

Beneficial but not mandatory experience includes:

  • Direct experience with Monte
  • Exposure to navigation flight operations
  • Familiarity with mission design and maneuver planning
  • Knowledge of systems integration, ICDs, and verification activities
  • Experience with standard engineering process and configuration control
  • Support of IRAD or proposal activities

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of professional experience in spacecraft navigation, orbit determination, or related astrodynamics roles
  • Must be a U.S. Person (citizen, Green Card holder/permanent resident, or protected individual)
  • Ability to work in the Westminster, CO office 5 days per week during core business hours

  • Base salary range: $92,000 – $121,000 based on role, experience, and location
