Primary Objective
The City of Bloomington is seeking an individual to assist with weekly Parks and Recreation Naturalist and History programs.Duties
- Assist Naturalist and History program staff in carrying out a variety of engaging programs for the public.
- Work with Coordinators in designing and delivering programs at Pond Dakota Mission Park and other locations throughout the City.
- Maintain a positive and fun attitude in welcoming visitors to programs and delivering program information.
- Assist with other Special Events as needed.
- Represent the City of Bloomington in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Minimum/Desirable Qualifications
- High quality communication skills and ability to interact effectively with the public.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including primarily weekends.
- Ability to work both independently and with a team.
- Attention to detail, punctual, and dependable.
Supplemental Information
- Position to begin in August, but there is some flexibility in starting date.
- 10-15 hours per week on average.
- Most work to take place on Saturdays and Sundays, with opportunities for additional hours for other events.
- Position to take place at locations throughout the city.
Incidentals
- Commitment Bonus: A seasonal employee who works until at least August 9th will receive a $100 bonus on their final paycheck.
- Referral Bonus: A seasonal employee who refers a new seasonal employee will receive a $100 bonus on their final paycheck.
- Ongoing Part-Time employees who are employed for more than 6 months will make contributions to the pension program (PERA) through payroll deductions unless they qualify for one of the exemptions.
- Part-Time may receive Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook and eligible for paid parental leave after 6 months of employment.
- Temporary/Seasonal employees do not receive benefits outside of Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook.
