About the role

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) is an industry leader offering environmental consulting, engineering, compliance, and technical field services to diverse market sectors. We seek an entry to mid-level Biologist or Environmental Scientist to support fieldwork and environmental remediation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work associated with environmental permitting, including natural resources inventory, wetland delineations, species assessments, and environmental sampling (chemical and biological).
  • Field work including completing wetland delineations, assessments, and monitoring as well as conducting species surveys.
  • Utilize ATVs in the field to perform various wetland and ecological assessments.
  • Prepare wetland monitoring and other natural resource related summary reports.
  • 401/404 Permitting Documents and Agency Coordination, use of COE Regional Supplements for 404 wetland delineations.
  • Perform Phase 1 and 2 environmental site assessments (soil, groundwater, soil gas, air, etc.), sampling, monitoring well installation, and related reporting.
  • Communicate with clients, third party and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules and compliance issues.
  • Ensure adherence to client and corporate contract specifications in all activities including Health, Safety, Security, and Environment.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, or related field is required. A Master's of Science is preferred.
  • 0-5+ years of related experience, with hands-on field and office project/task execution, preferably in a responsible position commensurate with employment level.
  • Experience with plant identification of wetland and/or upland species, especially in Florida.
  • Experience or training with Florida wetland delineations and/or wetland permitting, along with wetland delineations with the US Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Experience with wildlife surveys, specifically Federal and State listed species.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal water quality laws (CWA, RHA Section 10, ESA, NHPA, NEPA, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, capable of preparing complete deliverable reports with a focus on Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software.
  • Experience using GPS equipment and developing data dictionaries for specific GPS data collection efforts to feed into GIS data display and map production.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and accept challenging task assignments.
