Position Summary
PS&S is seeking an experienced Natural Gas Utility Project Manager / Engineer to join our Wall, NJ office; however, the candidate could possibly work from our Cherry Hill or Warren offices. This position is ideal for a technically strong utility professional who can lead projects through all phases of design and delivery while managing schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead natural gas utility projects from kickoff through completion, ensuring delivery on schedule, within scope, and within budget
- Oversee day-to-day project execution while ensuring compliance with client standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior designers, engineers, and support staff
- Coverage and perform QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables
- Prepare and present project status updates, including identification of risks and mitigation strategies
- Review, interpret, and troubleshoot design plans for linear utility infrastructure projects
- Aid in preparing and submitting federal, state, county, and municipal permit applications
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in distribution natural gas utility engineering and/or design
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, tracking, coordination, and delivery
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D) required
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office; MS Project experience is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Willingness to use your own vehicle to drive to project sites within NJ and occasionally work outside traditional hours when needed
- Ability to communicate and coordinate with internal leadership and external stakeholders including clients and agencies, etc.
