Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for the equipment (including fleet vehicles) inventory, tool inventory, consumables inventory, implementing standardized yard procedures, and ensuring cleanliness/organization and safety protocols
- Coordinate with yard manager/supervisors to maintain accurate inventory and optimize space utilization
- Manage equipment lifecycle, including 5-year strategic planning, annual budget planning, capex justification, leasing, utilization, maintenance, repair, and commissioning/decommissioning
- Work with equipment suppliers/rental companies and contractors to ensure targeted equipment uptime, competitive rates and field support
- Develop a business case for each capital expenditure and ensure the ROI for the investment is achieved (post-implementation tracking)
- Develop and coordinate training on equipment handling, safety, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with pre-construction, project management, fabrication, erection, quality, and safety teams to align to project goals and execution
- Maintain capex project costs and schedules to ensure alignment with capital expenditure plans
- Develop KPIs (key performance indicators) and maintain routine reviews/reporting
- Participate in industry groups to stay current on best practices and industry trends
- Travel to field yards (regularly) and job sites (occasionally) to ensure operations are compliant to expectations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial or construction engineering, construction management or equivalent
- 10+ years job experience in commercial construction and/or field steel erection, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of construction equipment, methods and practices
- Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools
- Proficient in Align Technologies/Toolwatch or other equipment tracking software
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities across project management, operations and field erection teams
- Understand safety standards and regulatory compliance in industrial and job site environments
