Description
The Nursing Assistant II assists the professional caregiver in delivering patient care, transports patients and equipment, sets up and maintains patient rooms, and performs various clerical, transcription, and maintenance functions. This role requires clinical and procedural knowledge, including sterile techniques, infusion monitoring, and medical equipment use. Responsibilities also include coordinating communications, providing clerical support, and performing direct personal care tasks.
- Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, procure equipment and supplies.
- Critically review patient care documentation, make immediate reports to a registered nurse or physician, and provide a variety of clerical tasks.
- Perform administrative and clerical support, including PI audits and data entry.
- Provide clinical support assistance, such as cleaning the work area, maintaining office equipment, and assisting in the orientation of new employees and students.
- Directly care for patients as outlined in their plan of care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, assisting with ambulation, measuring and recording vital signs, and performing specimen collection and wound care.
- Distribute patient education materials at the request of patients and/or health care providers.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Listed as Nursing Assistant II with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Qualifications
- One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience.
- Six (6) months of related nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Fluency in verbal and written English language.
- Computer skills if not competent.
