About the role
The position is located at Naval Base Coronado, I-Bar NASNI O Club, within the Food and Beverage Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in Navy Region Southwest.
Responsibilities
- Mixes and serves a limited variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Helps compute charges, collect appropriate amounts from patrons, and make change in accordance with established cash handling procedures.
- Prepares daily activity reports and ensures funds are properly secured or deposited.
- Ensures adequate stock levels, arranges and displays bottled goods and glasses, and replenishes stock when supplies are low.
- Ensures economic use of supplies and waste is minimized.
- Takes inventories and ensures prices are accurate.
- May be required to calibrate the bar as needed.
- Cleans and dries bar glasses, utensils, and equipment.
- Maintains the working area according to sanitation and safety standards, including sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning sinks, walls, and cabinets.
- Complies with all safety, fire, and sanitation rules and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Must meet federal suitability requirements, including successful completion of a background investigation.
- Must walk or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- May be required to walk with a dolly to transport beer kegs.
- Work schedule is flexible and may include night, weekend, and holiday shifts, as well as split days off.
- May be required to obtain and maintain certifications within 90 days of hire: Food Handlers and/or C.A.R.E (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively).
- Frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Must meet minimum state age requirements to prepare and serve alcohol.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and skill to mix and serve beverages.
- Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolve issues or seek assistance.
- Knowledge of cash handling skills and ability to calculate and use basic arithmetic.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages.
- Ability to present a fine sense of customer relations.
