MV/HV Safety Manager (Remote)

About the role

This fully remote position coordinates, implements, and monitors the Corporate Safety Programs at various utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high-voltage substation project locations nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties of a safety representative
• Apply thorough understanding of basic electrical concepts, utility-scale solar facilities, field circuitry, and electrical substation function
• Provide electrical safety training and education in medium and high-voltage environments
• Train safe work practices, company clearance, operational procedures, isolating procedures, and grounding concepts
• Identify leading and lagging indicators
• Develop, implement, and oversee job-specific safety plans and procedures
• Inspect job sites to ensure Company Safety Program and OSHA compliance
• Provide emergency response plans for projects
• Arrange basic first aid training for job site personnel
• Investigate and analyze bodily injury, property damage, and near-miss incidents; lead investigations of reportable offenses
• Determine near-miss and good-catch events
• Coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors
• Compile and issue regular accident report summaries
• Communicate safety requirement updates or changes to employees
• Identify and address project management personnel needing assistance, training, or discipline in meeting corporate safety guidelines
• Work with third-party safety verification platforms to validate company safety procedures
• Develop regional safety training through onsite, local, and LMS-based methods
• Create training materials and assist trainers for various safety programs
• Observe and flag personnel for additional or follow-up training
• Participate in Corrective Action Plan development
• Regularly review and revise Electrical Safety Program documents to align with industry codes and best practices
• Inspect and recertify regional live-line tools

Requirements

• Hold or be working toward a safety certification such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, or CUSP
• BS in Occupational Safety and Health or 7 years of solar safety experience
• 5 years of experience in safety or a safety-related field
• Willing to travel 75% of the time
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and NFPA 70e
• Ability to evaluate operations and maintenance work activities for safety and loss control
• Ability to recognize and analyze company accident trends
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship now or in the future

Pay

$107,467.00 – $134,334.00 (salary)
