About the role

The successful candidate will:

  • Firmly believe all students can and will learn, and that their learning can be directly influenced by focusing on factors over which we have control;
  • Work interdependently with teachers, school, and district leaders to align adult efforts around improving student learning by meeting the needs, interests, and aspirations of students;
  • Partner with staff to continuously improve practices that enhance student and family engagement, creating conditions for equity, excellence, and student success;
  • Personalize learning for students, addressing academic, social, and emotional needs to foster a sense of belonging and academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Design and choreograph large group and small group numbers;
  • Develop and grow an appreciation and enthusiasm for musical theater in students;
  • Assist in casting for the musical, including recruitment and auditions;
  • Develop the cast list with the production team;
  • Manage student behavior and engagement;
  • Seek opportunities for student and community engagement;
  • Develop effective and efficient rehearsal schedules;
  • Work with internal and external partners;
  • Lead small and large group rehearsals.

Requirements

  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Adaptability and strong communication skills;
  • Experience choreographing youth productions and/or dance groups;
  • Flexibility to work with varying ages and abilities;
  • Creativity to meet each student's needs;
  • Passion for musical theater.

Schedule

  • Rehearsals after school;
  • Production meetings weekly or as needed.

Pay

Stipend of $1,530.00 for the High School musical. The stipend may be pro-rated based on FTE of assignment. This is not a benefits-eligible position.
