About the role
Audio Expert contract position, remote, with a commitment of 10‑40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Transcribe polyphonic musical recordings into structured notation.
- Distinguish soprano, alto, tenor, and bass lines from a mono mix.
- Identify pitches, onsets, durations, rests, and re‑articulations.
- Quantize events to the correct rhythmic grid.
- Apply accurate key signatures, accidentals, and enharmonic spelling.
- Generate or manipulate MusicXML.
- Use Python to inspect audio, analyze spectral information, and automate parts of the transcription workflow.
- Validate transcriptions through musical review, structured checks, or resynthesis.
Requirements
- Strong Python programming ability.
- Advanced ear training and polyphonic music‑transcription ability.
- Strong understanding of harmony, rhythm, voice leading, and standard notation.
- Experience with SATB music, choral arranging, score preparation, or a closely related form of polyphonic transcription.
- Familiarity with tools such as librosa, NumPy, SciPy, music21, Essentia, pretty_midi, MuseScore, or other audio‑analysis and notation software.
Pay
$50–$100 per hour.
Schedule
10‑40 hours per week.
