Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital opened on Jan. 24, 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital. Today, the hospital is a 1,101-bed major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma designations. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows. Scope of Work
Assumes responsibility for evaluating client's need for music therapy. Plans and executes treatment program in accordance with guidelines outlined by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). Maintains skills through continuing education. Serves as a clinical resource to peers, team members and client/family. Participates in quality improvement and program development activities.
Music Therapist provides a unique opportunity for pediatric patients and families to use music as a form of therapeutic expression during the critical time of hospitalization. The Music Therapist provides music instruction, non-pharmacological pain management opportunities, procedural support, and bereavement memory making for children and their families on Pediatrics and in the adult ICU helping children of adult patients create keepsakes and heartbeat recordings during parental loss.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA approved program and emphasis in neurologic music therapy required for SHCC and preferred for HDVCH Child Life.
- Required: 2 years of relevant experience related to music therapy.
- Preferred: Experience working with individuals with neurological injury.
- Required: CRT-Board Cert Music Therapist (BC-MT) - CBMT Certification Board for Music Therapist within 1 year.
