Key Responsibilities
- Teach general music classes to students in grades PS–8
- Develop age-appropriate lessons in vocal music, rhythm, movement, and music theory fundamentals
- Plan, rehearse and direct students for school performances, prayer services, liturgical celebrations, and spring talent show
- Foster a positive, structured, and joyful classroom environment
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to integrate music into the broader curriculum and participate in staff meetings
- Communicate effectively with students, parents and staff
- Liturgical Support: Prepare students to lead singing at school liturgies and prayer services.
- Assessment & Reporting: Regularly assess student performance and musical growth, maintain accurate attendance and progress records, and communicate with students, parents and administration as needed.
- May supervise an elective class as determined by student interest and your talents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (Music, Music Education, or related field preferred)
- Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school music preferred
- Ability to lead vocal music and accompany (piano or guitar skills strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgical music and traditions preferred
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education (practicing Catholic preferred)
- Completion of required background check and Virtus training
