About the Role
Teachers at Niagara Charter School educate and foster the growth of students while aligning with NYS Learning Standards and the school’s specific grade-by-grade benchmarks.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enrich subject-area expertise.
- Develop lesson plans that meet NYS Learning Standards and charter-specific standards, coordinating with other teachers for interdisciplinary reinforcement.
- Provide direct and indirect instruction tailored to individual student needs.
- Prepare students for required assessments and evaluate their progress.
- Create monthly individual student achievement reports for parents.
- Foster an inviting, innovative, and exciting learning environment with effective classroom management.
- Serve as student advisors and ensure compliance with IEP regulations.
- Direct teacher assistants in small-group work and collaborate to address individual student needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer (CAO).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree upon hire; Master’s Degree required per NYS Regulations.
- State Teaching Certification and credentials as required by the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
- 1–3 years of teaching experience in a public or private school, preferably in an urban setting.
- CPR and AED certification (training provided by the school).

- Ability to adapt to diverse student needs, including those with special needs.
- Expertise in the subject area, with strong instructional and engagement skills for young children.
- Proficiency in evaluating tests and measurements of student achievement.
- Accountability for student results and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Technology literacy, including Google Apps for Education.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Frequent use of arms, hands, and repetitive motions (e.g., typing, writing).
- Occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.
- Requires close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regular verbal communication and active listening.
Pay
Salary range: $40,500 – $45,500 per year.
Schedule
Full-time, permanent position starting March 1, 2026.
