Music Permanent Substitute Teacher (Oct. 2026 - Feb. 2027)
About the Role
The Music teacher will teach elementary classes as scheduled, coordinate the music program with classroom programs when appropriate, conduct a multi-age chorus, and participate in appropriate music productions. The role may also involve supporting the Elementary School chorus and concerts.
This position requires transportation between buildings during the school day.
Responsibilities
- Instruct and rehearse concert band at Andover High School and support all three middle schools.
- Work with other music teachers to coordinate curriculum, events, and concerts.
- Conduct ensembles for performances, both in and out of the school day, throughout the year.
- Instruct additional music classes as needed.
- Perform all other required duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Massachusetts certification in Music (General, Instrumental, or Choral) K-12.
- Training and/or academic coursework in instrumental music education.
- Previous high and middle school teaching experience preferred.
- Functional proficiency on all concert band instruments.
- Highly proficient on at least one wind or brass instrument.
- Prior experience leading marching band, pep band, jazz band, or other ensembles (strongly preferred).
- Positive, energetic, and flexible approach to process-based and inclusive instruction/rehearsal.
- Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or willingness to acquire these skills.
