Music Lesson Instructor

Reporting to the Director of Music and collaborating with the Music Program Coordinator, the Music Lesson Instructor teaches private instrumental and/or vocal music lessons and occasionally coaches student ensembles. At this time, we are searching for instructors who teach: Violin/ViolaVoiceBassoon Teaching Responsibilities Primary Duties and Responsibilities Teach private lessons to students with a varying range of experience across grade levels 9-12Coaching ensembles as needed throughout the school yearPerform alongside students in ensembles as needed throughout the year Administrative Duties Clearly communicate the lesson schedule to studentsMaintain excellent records of private lessons taught as well as student attendanceSubmit weekly timesheets to the Music Program Coordinator as appropriateSubmit End of Term information (number of lessons taught, number of unexcused lessons, if any) to the Music Program CoordinatorAttend meetings scheduled by Music Director and/or Music Program Coordinator Job Specifications Bachelor’s degree in music required, Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred1-3 years teaching private music lessons required; experience teaching adolescents preferredStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and organizational skillsWillingness to work with ensembles required; demonstrated success leading ensembles preferredDemonstrated excellence as a professional performing musician requiredDemonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community;Ability to work as part of a team Physical Job Demands Ability to frequently stand and/or sit for sustained periods of timeAbility to reach items and paperworkAbility to frequently sustain substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingersAbility to occasionally stoop or kneelAbility to occasionally lift/carry/push up to 10 pounds Working Conditions The worker is mainly in an office environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
