Music History Faculty, Full-Time
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach core and elective courses for undergraduate and graduate students, a total of three courses per semester. Specific courses will be determined based upon departmental need and the successful candidate’s specialties and interests.
Non-core course topics will generally involve (but not necessarily be confined to) Western classical music. Given these requirements, candidates with demonstrable expertise in any broad area of common practice classical music are encouraged to apply, particularly those with the following areas of specialty:
- opera from the eighteenth century to the present, especially that of Italy or Germany;
- other staged artforms and related fields, such as dance, musical theater, and dramaturgy;
- performance studies;
- new critical perspectives in twenty-first-century musicology.
In addition to teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to stay up-to-date with current scholarship, participate in department meetings as well as departmental and school-wide committees, hold regular office hours, and be available to meet with students as needed.
Qualifications
Candidates should have in hand the Ph.D. in Musicology or a related field prior to starting employment. Demonstrated success in college-level teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
A background in performance or composition, or proficiency with a musical instrument, including voice, is helpful.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $94,000 - $100,000 per year.
