About the role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support optometrists in providing high-quality eye care to patients. You will be responsible for performing preliminary tests, assisting with patient management, and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow within the clinic.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and prepare them for their eye examinations.
• Perform preliminary vision and diagnostic tests, including auto-refraction, tonometry, and visual field screening.
• Assist the optometrist during patient examinations and procedures.
• Instruct patients on the proper use and care of contact lenses.
• Maintain and clean ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
• Manage patient records, including documentation of test results and medical histories.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage the daily clinic schedule.
• Provide patients with information on eye health and treatment plans as directed by the optometrist.
• Order and manage inventory of optical supplies and contact lenses.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Optometric Assistant (COA) is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in an optometric or ophthalmic setting is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology and basic anatomy of the eye.
• Proficiency in performing preliminary diagnostic tests and using ophthalmic equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for managing patient records and clinic flow.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.

Pay

• Pay is based on experience and will be discussed during the interview.
