Music, and/or Recreational Therapist - Licensed
Responsibilities
The Expressive Therapist is responsible for developing and implementing various aspects of the expressive therapy program based upon each unit’s needs and demographics.
About the role
The Brook Hospitals-KMI is a 110-bed hospital located in the heart of the Bluegrass, Lexington, KY. The Ridge provides psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. The Brook Hospitals-KMI offers Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Individual Counseling, as well as Medication Management for all ages. We have provided behavioral health services to over 92 Kentucky counties for more than 39 years.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy, Recreational Therapy, OR Master’s Degree Education.
- Experience: Previous mental health experience preferred. Inpatient experience preferred.
- Certifications/Licensure: Board certification (MT-BC) or eligibility to sit for national exam conducted through the Certification Board for Music Therapist (CBMT); licensure, CTRS, OR LPATA with supervision or LPAT/ATR-BC required.

- Skills in leading therapeutic recreational groups for all ages.
- Skills in time management.
- Knowledge of acute psychological disorders, and advanced principals of abnormal psychology.
- Skills in maintaining information as highly confidential.
- Must demonstrate the ability to treat all age populations as needed or have the capacity to develop skills through the organization’s cross-training, orientation program.
- Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation.
