About the role

The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position will be responsible for designing, testing, and maintaining high-field magnets and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new magnet systems
• Conduct tests on magnet performance and reliability
• Maintain existing magnet systems and infrastructure
• Collaborate with other engineers and scientists to optimize magnetic field parameters
• Write technical reports and present findings at internal meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in high-field magnet design and maintenance
• Experience with superconducting magnet systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Knowledge of magnet design principles and materials
• Experience with magnetic field modeling software
• Good understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles

Skills

• Proficiency in CAD software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Pay

$80,000 - $90,000 annually

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
