Museum Curator
About the role
This position involves planning, administering, and managing state National Guard (NG) museums, exhibits, or historical collections in accordance with Army Center for Military History (CMH), Army Museum Enterprise (AME), and state policy. The incumbent will lead the development of museum exhibits, plan educational and interpretive programs, and facilitate volunteer participation.
Responsibilities
- Plan, administer, and manage state, territory, or district-level museum exhibits and educational programs.
- Develop and produce museum exhibits, collaborate with exhibit designers, and restore and prepare items for exhibition.
- Lead public programming, including informative tours for members of the public and distinguished visitors.
- Facilitate volunteer participation within the museum.
Requirements
National Guard membership is required. Incumbents must submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually.
Specialized Experience
At least 36 months of specialized experience that equipped the incumbent with knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in museum work, or in an applicable subject matter field, or a combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Knowledge of administrative, clerical, scientific, or technical nature.
- Knowledge to research, collect, develop, and present exhibits for Army National Guard State Museums.
