Munitions Specialist (Ammunition Logistics & Management Support)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Stockpile Management & Allocation: Manage and validate theater ammunition allocations, tracking current stock levels, expenditures, and future requirements against the Total Ammunition Management System (TAMS).
  • Ammunition Accountability: Monitor and maintain complete visibility of Class V assets across multiple Theater Ammunition Supply Points (ASPs) using automated military logistics networks.
  • Distribution Coordination: Coordinate with the Joint Munitions Command (JMC), surface deployment commands, and forward logistics nodes to schedule, expedite, and track strategic movements of munitions into theater.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all ammunition operations, storage layouts, and transport manifests comply strictly with DoD explosives safety standards, hazard classification guidelines, and border clearance protocols.
  • Operational Planning Support: Analyze unit ammunition forecasts and provide input to G4 leadership during the development of operational plans (OPLANs) and theater combat sustainment modeling.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Occupational Safety, or a related field (equivalent military munitions management experience may be substituted).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of specialized experience in Army ammunition logistics or management (Army 89B/890A/89A senior NCO, Warrant Officer, or civilian contractor equivalent background). Experience at a Division, Corps, or Theater Army (ASCC) G4 level is highly preferred.
  • Technical Systems: Direct operational proficiency with the Standard Army Ammunition System (SAAS), Total Ammunition Management Information System (TAMIS), and the Munitions History Program (MHP).
  • C clearance: Active DoD Secret security clearance is required at the time of application.
  • Skills: Deep understanding of Army Regulation 710-2 (Supply Support Activity Operations), DA PAM 700-16 (The Ammunition Management System), and DoD 6055.09 (Explosives Safety Standards).

About the Role
