About the role
The Municipal Project Manager oversees assigned projects, develops scopes, schedules, and fees, and manages projects from conception to completion. This role is part of a 100% employee-owned company committed to excellence, community service, and employee satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Oversees assigned projects to ensure they meet scope, schedule, and budget
- Develops the scope of work, schedule, and fee for each project in coordination with Production Leaders
- Distributes a Project Work Plan to the project team
- Understands and communicates client expectations and objectives
- Prepares qualification/proposal submittals and presentations to clients
- Maintains financial oversight of projects using a project management system
- Sets up and secures funding with State and Federal agencies, if necessary
- Applies engineering expertise to assist design teams in developing solutions
- Provides daily guidance and monitors project progress
- Ensures timely delivery and payment of client invoices
- Coordinates with leadership to review project profitability, billings, collections, and specific client/quality issues
- Serves as a trusted advisor to clients and collaborates with Business Development to secure new business
- Travels for project coordination, as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state where the office is located or ability to obtain registration within six months
- 5+ years of experience in the civil engineering field
- Understanding of engineering contracts
- Ability to prepare engineering records and write concise technical reports
- Ability to supervise and lead project teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines
- Understanding of other engineering disciplines
- Excellent communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and insurability

For Minnesota residents, the pay range for this position is $87,200-$120,000 (with flexibility DOQ).
