About the role

WCSH6 NEWS CENTER Maine is seeking a Multiskilled Journalist to lead daily newscasts for a statewide audience. Key responsibilities include pitching, setting up, shooting, writing, editing mobile shorts and packages, and often fronting them live.

Responsibilities

• Pitch, set up, shoot, and write stories
• Edit mobile shorts and packages
• Frequently front live segments
• Work across multiple platforms including TV, social media, and the web
• Showcase strong storytelling skills and ability to cover breaking news
• Showcase creative live shots and production skills

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism or a related field
• 3-5 years’ experience as a Multiskilled Journalist (MSJ/MMJ)
• Experience in videography, editing, and internet posting
• Active presence on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok
• Knowledge of CUEZ, Edius, and Axis graphics

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is passionate about deep storytelling and able to switch gears quickly for breaking news coverage. They must have a team-first attitude and a keen eye for creative live shots and production.

• Strong storytelling and writing skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in video editing software
• Understanding of social media trends and engagement strategies
