About the role

The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Integration Directorate (AFNWC/NC) is seeking multiple full-time NH-801-03, AFPAE NC3 General Engineer positions within the NC3 Integration Directorate, located at Hanscom AFB, MA. Join the AFNWC team to help modernize NC3 capabilities in support of strategic deterrence – a top Secretary of Defense priority.

Key Program Responsibilities

• Engineering Management: Oversee program engineering and technical activities
• Digital Engineering/Acq: Execute programs utilizing digital engineering/acq
• Acquisition Planning: Shape multi-year acquisition strategies and contracts at the program level
• Mission Alignment: Align program execution with PAE strategic objectives
• Process Improvement: Enhance contracts, systems, and internal processes

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship
• To qualify as an engineer, employee must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions
• Graduate degree preferred
• Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management "Practitioner" certification category within required timeframe after appointment
• Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, with Top Secret preferred
• Employee will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise
• Employee may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station

Qualifications

• Possess the knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability to perform tasks related to the duties and responsibilities cited above
• Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts in written and oral presentations
• Ability to work independently and apply the proper procedures and processes related to general engineering activities
• Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot various situations to develop successful outcomes within established program/project guidelines (Program Office and Staff Level Support interface)

Skills

• Familiarity with RF communications preferred
• Experience with the USAF nuclear enterprise, to include NC3 and AFGSC preferred
• 2-7+ yrs Engineering, technical management, program support preferred
• Experience applying engineering principles, concepts, standards, and methods to extend or modify existing or evolving approaches to technologies that support operations and working with engineering team members, resolve unique or novel problems, conditions, or issues; or significantly alter standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and known techniques

Pay

These NH-0801-03 positions have a typical 2026 salary range of $101,375 - $156,699 including Boston area locality pay.
