About the role

The Multimodality Technologist position is an experienced Technologist responsible for performing a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic radiology procedures with two or more specialty modalities of moderate to high complexity. This position may perform other job duties related to admissions and registration, medical assisting and transportation, as needed.

Responsibilities

The Multimodality Technologist position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of various radiology procedures. This position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures and patient care situations.

  • Provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic procedures, delivering exceptional patient care, teamwork, and adheres to radiation standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.
  • Performs diagnostic radiology procedures to include but not limited to X-ray, MRI, CT, Mammography, Ultrasound, IR exams.
  • Proactively assesses, identifies and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care, image quality and patient experience.
  • Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures.
  • Provides support to co-workers, physicians, patients, and family members, demonstrating flexibility in performing the activity required to meet the need of the individual.

Requirements

  • Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
  • Two years’ combined experience in more than one specialty modality.
  • Required BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and Must have one of the following: ARRT-MRI or ARRT-M or ARRT-CT.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
  • Possesses basic computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems to include, Hospital/Radiology Information Systems and Office software to maintain patient and exam documents.

Quality/Safety

  • Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.
  • Uses ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to protect patients, staff and general public, and follows radiation safety standards.
  • Properly utilizes patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures.
  • Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with radiation safety and infection control procedures.

Finance

  • Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures.
  • Enters charges at the time service is delivered.
  • Utilizes resources with cost effectiveness and value creation in mind.

  • Actively participates in special projects, department initiatives or shared governance activities and seeks opportunities to expand learning with a focus on continual development.
  • Fosters a positive and constructive teaching environment by engaging co-workers and students, as applicable, in learning opportunities that are valuable and in alignment with business objectives.
