About the Role

The Multimodality Technologist, supervised by a Radiologist, performs imaging in two or more disciplines, with at least 25% of their work focused on advanced areas like CT, MR, Nuc Med, or IR. They work with ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider to diagnose disease and injury, following established protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality multimodality procedures according to exam protocol promptly while maintaining production and quality standards.
• Demonstrates expertise in radiation dose reference levels and monitoring. Takes action if estimated dose exceeds set levels, including patient follow-up when necessary.
• Properly uses iSTAT point-of-care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.
• Utilizes AIDET to communicate with patients, ensuring the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport and assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
• Prepares patients and procedure areas, positions patients, uses immobilization devices, and adjusts equipment settings and exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
• Maintains equipment and work areas to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Collaborates with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation and reports issues to management. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
• Screens individuals for safe entry into the department according to approved policies and procedures.
• Obtains, verifies, and maintains relevant documentation such as requisitions, patient history, pregnancy status, and departmental policies.
• Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems per department policies.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an Accredited Program
• Experience: 1 year or more of Multimodality Tech experience highly preferred
• Certifications/Licenses:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT), unless the role is MRI or Ultrasound.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in two imaging modalities, working 50% of the time in the second modality. Approved certifications include:
    • ARRT-R (Radiography), ARRT-CT (Computed Tomography), ARRT-CV (Cardiovascular-Interventional), ARRT-M (Mammography), ARRT-MR (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), ARRT-N (Nuclear Medicine), ARRT-S (Sonography), ARRT-VI (Vascular-Interventional), ARRT-BS (Breast Sonography), ARRT-BD (Bone Densitometry), ARRT-CI (Cardiac-Interventional), RDMS-AB (Abdomen), RDMS-BR (Breast), RDMS-FE (Fetal Echocardiography), RDMS-OB (OB/GYN), RDMS-PS (Pediatric Sonography), RVT (Registered Vascular Tech), CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech), or ARMRIT.
