Augusta offers a booming economy, year-round outdoor recreation, and proximity to beaches (2 hours) and mountains (3 hours).

About the Role

WRDW-TV/WAGT-TV in Augusta, Georgia, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) to join its morning news team. This role is for journalists who prioritize meaningful community connections and impactful storytelling, with a focus on breaking news and hard news enterprise. The MMJ will aggressively cover breaking news, report live from the field during morning newscasts, and advance developing stories. When not covering breaking news, the MMJ will enterprise news content, including researching, shooting, writing, and editing scripts and video.

Responsibilities

  • Cover breaking news aggressively, reporting live from the field during morning newscasts.
  • Advance information as stories develop, providing timely updates.
  • Enterprise news content for the morning newscast, including researching, shooting, writing, and editing scripts and video.
  • Produce hard news packages daily with attention to accuracy, detail, and compelling broadcast-style writing.
  • Work collaboratively with photographers and the news team under tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • Degree in broadcast journalism or a related field.
  • Strong, take-charge personality with the ability to execute compelling live shots.
  • Self-starter mentality, competitiveness, and ability to work well under tight deadlines.
  • Experience uncovering exclusive details on developing breaking news.
  • Proficiency in turning hard news packages daily with a focus on accuracy and compelling storytelling.
