About the role

Spectrum News NECN is seeking a Multimedia Journalist to cover MA, NH, ME, VT, RI, and CT. The ideal candidate will be a storyteller who connects with the community, using innovative approaches to report on essential news and issues.

Responsibilities

• Talk to community members to uncover stories that might otherwise go unreported
• Write, shoot, interview, and edit compelling stories across TV, connected television, and digital platforms
• Work within tight deadlines and collaborate with a supportive team
• Create engaging content that informs and connects with viewers

Requirements

• Experience: 3+ years in television news reporting
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field; or equivalent television work experience
• Technical Skills: Ability to shoot videos, understand video editing software, and use social media effectively
• Skills: Effective communication on camera and through writing and verbal expression
• Abilities: Curiosity, sense of urgency, and the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
• Travel Ability: Open to travel to cover stories in different locations
• Schedule: Flexible to work under time pressure, different shifts, and weekends/holidays
• Valid driver's license for driving in the state of residence

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a 24-hour news channel

Pay

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $50,000.00 and $100,000.00, with actual compensation determined by a range of factors.

Schedule

Ability to work under time pressure deadlines and willing and able to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies, including weekends and holidays.
