Multimedia Journalist Reporter

About the role

CBS News Philadelphia is seeking a Multi-Skilled Journalist (MSJ) Reporter to join our early morning on-air team. The ideal candidate will bring creative story ideas, strong communication skills, and a passion for local news.

Responsibilities

• Sell and produce news stories for KYW-TV
• Turn content, front multiple live shots, write copy for the station website
• Use all social media to promote their assignments
• Effective communicator in the field with story composition and live or look-live reporting
• Excellent news judgment, ability to problem-solve
• Key collaborator with team of managers at two stations
• Strong writing and reporting skills; proven ability to react to breaking news situations
• Skilled interviewer & creative storyteller and writer
• Able to shoot, write & edit
• Self-motivated & able to generate own story ideas that are compelling and provide a viewer benefit

Requirements

• College Degree preferred
• At least 3 years’ experience reporting in a commercial broadcast setting including regular live reporting; daily live reporting preferred
• Knowledge of social media and how to use it to promote to broadcast, streaming and the web; experience writing for the web required
• Knowledge of iNews rundown systems and Avid Media Composer editing preferred
• Experience with emerging media techniques and equipment in a newsroom setting a plus
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, early mornings, holidays, and weekends
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• SAG-AFTRA union membership required
