Multimedia Journalist

About the role

We are looking for a Multi-Media Journalist based in Salem, Oregon. Your primary content will cover statewide issues and the statehouse when in session. You will create and publish content daily across multiple platforms, including television, digital, social media, streaming, and emerging platforms. While the role is primarily Salem-based, you must be willing to travel to Portland, OR for staff meetings and special coverage.

Responsibilities

• Report, shoot, and edit news stories
• Enterprise story ideas and develop contacts
• Create and publish daily content for television, digital, social media, streaming, and emerging platforms
• Shoot and edit your own stories daily
• Provide content for both KATU and KVAL/KMTR (travel to KVAL/KMTR only if the story requires it)

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of reporting experience
• Experience with live shots
• Must live in Salem, OR
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record

Skills & Qualifications

• Sharp news judgment
• Ability to tell an NPPA-style story
• Excellent technical skills
• Ability to work well independently
• Experience with Live-U is a plus
• Experience with AVID editing is a plus
