About the role

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to one of several departments within the store—Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, or Janitorial. The role involves promoting sales, assisting customers, handling special orders, and maintaining department standards for freshness, cleanliness, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Center Store/Front End: Operate check-stands, memorize PLU codes, order/receive/unload/stock/rotate product, merchandise, and perform POS and inventory activities.
• Produce: Receive, inspect, and log products; trim, wash, and wrap produce; stock, rotate, and merchandise product; maintain floral areas; clean department equipment and areas.
• Meat/Seafood: Receive, inspect, and log products; weigh, wrap, package, and label products; stock, rotate, and merchandise product; provide customer service at the seafood counter; take special orders; operate slicers/wrappers; clean department areas and equipment.
• Bakery/Deli: Receive, inspect, and log products; prepare, weigh, package, and label products; stock, rotate, and merchandise baked goods and deli products; take special orders; operate ovens, proofers, slicers, and mixers; clean department areas and equipment.
• Janitorial: Maintain store cleanliness and sanitation; sweep/mop floors, clean restrooms, break rooms, offices, shelving, cases, front-end equipment, shopping carts, and vending machines; clean parking lot and empty trash; operate janitorial equipment.
• All Departments:
  • Sweep and mop sales floor, front end, back rooms, and refrigerated areas.
  • Operate forklift or baler if authorized and certified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma (or G.E.D.) or equivalent job experience.
• Six months of related experience.
• Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Ability to work with urgency, self-motivation, and flexibility.
• Must be available for varied retail hours.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing and physical movement.
• Lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance.

Pay

Hiring pay range: $17.15 – $26.50 per hour.
