About the Role

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to one of several departments within the store, including Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, Janitorial, or Pharmacy. Responsibilities include promoting sales, assisting customers, handling special orders, practicing safe food handling, maintaining cleanliness, and stocking, rotating, and merchandising products to ensure freshness and department appeal.

Responsibilities

• Center Store/Front End: Operate checkstands, memorize PLU codes, order/receive/unload/stock/rotate product, merchandise, and perform POS and inventory activities.
• Produce: Receive, inspect, and log products; trim, wash, and wrap produce; stock, rotate, and merchandise product; maintain floral areas; clean department areas and equipment.
• Meat/Seafood: Receive, inspect, and log products; weigh, wrap, package, and label products; stock, rotate, and merchandise product; provide customer service at the seafood counter; take special orders; operate slicers and wrappers; clean department areas and equipment.
• Bakery/Deli: Receive, inspect, and log products; prepare, weigh, package, and label products; stock, rotate, and merchandise baked goods and deli products; take special orders; operate ovens, proofers, slicers, and mixers; clean department areas and equipment.
• Janitorial: Maintain store cleanliness and sanitation; sweep/mop floors, clean restrooms, break rooms, offices, shelving, cases, equipment, shopping carts, and vending machines; clean store front and parking lot; empty trash; operate janitorial equipment.
• Pharmacy: Operate pharmacy register; handle prescriptions and completed orders; maintain department cleanliness and confidentiality.
• All Departments:
  • Sweep and mop sales floor, front end, back rooms, and refrigerated areas.
  • Operate forklift or baler if authorized and certified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) or additional job experience.
• Six months of related experience.
• Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency and self-motivation.
• Capability to be proactive, initiative-driven, enthusiastic, and flexible.
• Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours.
• Physical requirements: frequent standing and movement; lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance.

Pay

Hiring pay range: $17.15 - $26.20 per hour.
