Responsibilities
- Maintains adequate inventory of materials and various supplies and recommends procurement of necessary supplies.
- Captures scheduling of patients with the admitting department, referring physicians, nursing staff and inter-departmental sections.
- Documents all Medical Center charges and Radiology charges for each exam.
- Provides instruction to technologists and auxiliary personnel through formal and informal education.
- Maintains standards of radiation safety throughout the department.
- Aids Radiologists and other qualified physicians (under Radiologist supervision) in performing Interventional Radiology procedures.
- Selects proper protocols for identified procedure.
- Greet all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
- Ensures patients’ safe transfer into and out of Interventional Radiology suite.
- Prepares images for review by radiologist.
- Organizes and coordinates studies with previous x-ray studies.
- Adheres to the principles of image gently & image wisely.
- Follows & adheres to infection control guidelines and sterile techniques.
- Maintains Interventional Radiology room for cleanliness, supplies, and etc., following each exam.
- Operates radiographic equipment integrally with mechanical injector at injection rate and amount directed by radiologist.
- Performs required daily clerical duties, which include the use of EPIC, Teletracking System, computer system, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by hospital.
- Responsible for scheduled shifts.
- Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.
- On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.
- Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).
- Communicates with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
- Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
- Performs specific daily and monthly QA.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
- One-year experience in Interventional procedures (preferred).
- NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology (D.R).
- Registration with the ARRT - one or more of the following modalities: MRI (or ARMRIT), CT, Xray, IR, or Mammography (required).
- NJ state license and Certification in Nuclear Medicine only if secondary modality is in Nuclear Medicine (required).
- VI or CV certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (preferred).
