Multi Media Journalist

About the role

KCNC/TV is looking for an aggressive and creative MMJ for our very important morning news block. If your passion is serving your community through great journalism, then we are the newsroom for you. The ideal candidate must love breaking news, character-driven and in-depth storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Shoot, write, and edit packages for daily newscasts
• Strong live shot skills
• Generate story ideas and participate in editorial meetings
• Produce content for social media and streaming service
• Report scripted and unscripted with clarity, accuracy, and confidence
• Cover breaking news with a sense of urgency
• Conduct compelling in-person interviews
• Collaborate effectively with a wide range of personnel to create compelling content
• Develop and execute enterprise content on a consistent basis
• Maintain a steadfast commitment to accuracy and fairness
• Write clearly and interestingly and use video and graphics to illustrate facts and ideas
• Appear at public and station events, as required
• Establish and maintain relationships and sources in the community

Requirements

• Three years' experience on air
• Must be able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and solve problems quickly
• Very strong social media skills and ability to contribute on all platforms
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, holidays, and on-call shifts
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

College degree required or equivalent experience.
