About the role
Apple Valley News Now is seeking an innovative storyteller interested in reporting local news. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic who wants to learn it all: shooting, writing, editing, and live news production. This position is for KVEW-TV in Kennewick, Washington. The fast-growing Tri-Cities area (Kennewick/Pasco/Richland) offers 300 days of sunshine and a great lifestyle for outdoorsy types, with proximity to Pacific Northwest hotspots like Spokane, Seattle, and Portland.
Responsibilities
- Enterprise compelling stories for newscasts, website, and other platforms
- Shoot and edit video with TV news cameras, digital devices, production software, and apps
- Create content for our social platforms and engage with followers and fans
- Create articles on your stories for our website
- Maintain contacts and foster relationships in the community
- Complete work as assigned by the news director
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field, or experience with social media platforms and storytelling
- Sound editorial judgment and broad knowledge of journalism ethics and libel laws
- Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
- Ability to work under pressure as an individual and with a team
- Ability to edit using Adobe Suite (preferred but not required)
- Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds
Pay
$17.25 – $18.25 per hour
