Multi-Level Pipe Fitters

Perma-Pipe in Hebron, OH is seeking skilled Multi-Level Pipefitters to work in our fabrication shop, supporting production schedules through layout, fit-up, and welding of pipe assemblies.

About the role

This is a three-tier pipe fitting career path with clear advancement based on skill, productivity, and knowledge. The position is on-site in Hebron, OH, and candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.

Responsibilities

• Assist in laying out, assembling, and tack welding pipe components per blueprints and job specifications.
• Perform basic Stick Welding (SMAW) tasks under supervision.
• Interpret and follow blueprints, isometric drawings, and work orders.
• Support production demands by preparing materials and maintaining workflow.
• Maintain work area cleanliness and organization in compliance with safety standards.
• Work in shop environments with exposure to high temperatures in summer and cold conditions in winter.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and follow all shop safety rules and procedures.
• Communicate with supervisors and team leads to ensure proper task execution and timeline adherence.

Requirements

• Basic proficiency in Stick Welding (SMAW) is required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skill.
• Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and team-oriented.
• Willingness to learn and grow within a tiered skill development system.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, or on-call assignments as required.

Qualifications

Experience and skills determine pay and tier placement:

• Technician I: 0–2 years of pipe fitting or related experience. Entry-level role; prior exposure to welding or fabrication is helpful but not required. Basic knowledge of hand/power tools, cutting torches, and welding (SMAW/GMAW). Strong willingness to learn.
• Technician II: 2–4 years of industrial pipe fitting experience or equivalent training. Working knowledge of hand/power tools, cutting torches, and welding (SMAW/GMAW). Ability to troubleshoot equipment with limited supervision.
• Technician III: 4–6 years of industrial maintenance experience or equivalent certification. Strong knowledge of hand/power tools, cutting torches, and welding (SMAW/GMAW). Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability.

Physical Demands

• Lift/carry: sedentary up to 10 lbs; light up to 20 lbs; medium up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Raise/lower or move objects horizontally.
• Frequent wrist/hand motions.
• Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
• Must move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
• Visual acuity required for accuracy and thoroughness of work.
• Kneeling and bending for extended periods of time.
• Standing/walking for more than 90% of shift, including long distances.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

Work Environment

• Indoor fabrication shop with variable temperatures and noise levels.
• Exposure to welding equipment, fumes, dust, and heavy materials.
• Required use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
• Active industrial shop with exposure to dust, loud noise, varying temperatures, and heavy machinery.
• Frequent use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust masks.
• Occasional overtime or extended hours based on production needs.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred.
