Flint Hills Resources (FHR) is looking for a Multi Craft Technician to support our Pipeline and Terminals operations in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area.

About the role

This role will be responsible for the specification, installation, testing, and repair of all types of equipment used in the operation of refined products pipelines. The technician will also support the maintenance of instrumentation, electronic equipment, and mechanical rotating equipment. Other responsibilities may include measurements, regulatory equipment inspections, and various duties required for daily pipeline and terminal operations.

This role is based in Madison, WI or Milwaukee, WI and may require relocation for candidates outside the local area. Relocation assistance may be considered for qualified candidates. The position comes with a fully equipped company work truck, technician tools, and uniforms, and offers a flexible 9/80’s work schedule, meaning there is the potential for every other Friday off, depending on workload.

This role will require travel up to 20% and availability for on-call duties, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Work experience with industrial and electronic equipment that may include motors, valves, actuators, meters, transmitters, pumps, and valves
  • Mechanical/Electrical troubleshooting experience, including the ability to understand and interpret electrical and P&ID drawings and schematics (or equivalent military experience)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willing and able to perform physical requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Ability to participate in on-call duties

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, bend, twist, climb, and balance; occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Ability and willingness to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, respirator, safety work boots, etc.)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds)
  • Able to respond to audio alarms or other loud noises indicating a safety concern
  • Must be able to communicate hazardous conditions and other dangers
  • Work near moving mechanical parts, in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), outdoor weather conditions, high or precarious places, and around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic/caustic chemicals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) year technical degree in Mechanical or Electrical/Instrumentation disciplines
  • Five (5) or more years of work experience with industrial and mechanical/electronic equipment (motors, valves, actuators, meters, transmitters, pumps, and valves)
  • One (1) or more years of work experience maintaining multi-stage pumps, electrical starters, switch gear, and VFD’s from 480 Vac
  • One (1) or more years of work experience with pipeline measurement including proving, maintaining, and troubleshooting flow meters
  • Experience testing voltages of 3-phase power up to 480 volts
  • Ability to understand and apply the National Electrical Code
