RemoteRemoteManufacturingFull-time

Tusco is growing our Field Service team and looking for a Multi-Craft Field Service Technician based in either Dallas or San Antonio, Texas. We’re looking for someone who understands electrical troubleshooting, has strong mechanical aptitude, and enjoys figuring out why equipment isn't working—and how to fix it. Experience with hydraulics, PLCs, vehicle barriers, gates, or security systems is a plus, but not required. Candidates with backgrounds in industrial maintenance, electrical maintenance, automotive service, field service, barrier systems, and security integration may all bring relevant experience to this role.

About the role

This isn’t ordinary equipment maintenance. Tusco’s barrier and perimeter security systems help protect people, facilities, critical infrastructure, and high-security environments across the country. When one of those systems needs service, our Field Service Technicians are the people customers depend on to diagnose the problem and get it operating properly again. You’ll work on a wide variety of equipment and manufacturers, expand your electrical and mechanical knowledge, and develop experience across hydraulics, controls, PLCs, barriers, gate operators, and security technologies. This role also offers the opportunity to grow technically and build toward future leadership opportunities within the Field Service team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and service on vehicle barrier and perimeter security systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control-related issues
  • Repair motors, hydraulic components, wiring, control boards, and mechanical assemblies
  • Diagnose issues such as hydraulic leaks, leaking cylinders, electrical faults, and failed control components
  • Use schematics, drawings, manuals, and diagnostic equipment to identify equipment failures
  • Order and install replacement parts and maintain accurate service records
  • Work with equipment from a wide variety of barrier and gate operator manufacturers
  • Communicate directly with customers and provide professional onsite service
  • Work independently while knowing when to engage the broader Tusco team for support
  • Crosstrain on additional systems and technologies as your experience grows

Requirements

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues (required)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and an understanding of how machinery works
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, automotive, field service, or another multi-craft technical environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving instincts
  • Ability to read schematics, drawings, and equipment manuals
  • Maturity and integrity to work independently in the field
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Professional, customer-focused communication style
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Willingness to learn new equipment, systems, and technologies
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather and climate conditions
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work when needed

Experience with hydraulics, PLC troubleshooting, vehicle barriers, gate operators, access control, networking, or security systems is a plus—but not required. Position level (Technician I or II) will be determined based on experience and technical proficiency.

Travel

  • High-travel field position (approximately 80-90% travel)
  • Frequent travel throughout the region and across the United States
  • Majority of travel occurs during the workweek; not all travel requires an overnight stay
  • Occasional project or service needs may require Friday or weekend travel, but extended weekend travel is uncommon
  • Paid time starts when you leave your home to travel to the job site
  • Company truck provided
  • You keep the travel rewards you earn
  • When the service schedule allows and you’re back home early, you may have additional time at home before the next week’s travel begins

Benefits

  • Two medical PPO plan options, including free employee-only coverage and 100% coverage for preventive care
  • Dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage
  • Free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services
  • Generous PTO program with PTO carryover and buy-back options

Pre-Employment Requirements

Candidates who accept an offer of employment must successfully complete required pre-employment screening, including a DOT drug test, physical examination, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check. This position requires the operation of a company vehicle.
