Multi-Craft Blast/Paint/Scaffold Builder with Gulf Coast Industrial
About the role
Gulf Coast Industrial is currently seeking a Multicraft Blast/Paint/Scaffold Builder. This position must effectively and safely perform surface preparation, coatings application, and all associated phases of industrial coating. Additionally, this position must effectively and safely perform all duties required to erect, alter, and dismantle scaffolds. It also involves applying, removing, and repairing insulating material to exposed surfaces or structures.
Responsibilities
- Prepares surfaces and applies coatings to various structures, tanks, piping, and miscellaneous surfaces in accordance with customer specifications and manufacturers recommendations.
- Assembles, maintains, repairs, and cleans abrasive blasting and painting equipment.
- Mix and thin the coatings according to manufacturer's recommendations.
- Construct protective enclosures to avoid over spray of customer equipment.
- Assists in loading, unloading, and storage of equipment and supplies.
- Assembles, alters, and dismantles scaffolds according to OSHA guidelines and manufacturers' recommendations.
- Cooperates with Gulf Coast Industrial Project Manager and customers in carrying out assigned work.
- Assists in loading, unloading, and storage of equipment and supplies.
- Directs the Helper/Laborer in proper work performance and job requirements.
- At all times performs his/her work in the safest possible manner. Immediately correct any unsafe condition.
- Works at heights with no fear.
- Brushes adhesives on or attaches metal adhesive application to insulation material.
- Determines the amounts and selects required insulation material (in sheet, tubular, or roll form), such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, and urethane based on the material's ability to retain heat, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
- Measures and cuts insulation material to a specified size and shape for covering flat or round surfaces, using handsaw, knife, or scissors.
- Fits, wraps, or attaches required insulation material around or to the structure, following blueprint specifications.
- Covers or seals insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure insulation to the structure - according to the type of insulation used and structure covered, using a staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun.
- Proactively identifies any unsafe conditions or hazards and communicates them effectively.
Requirements and Education
- The Multicraft Scaffold Builder/Insulator must be highly productive, experienced in his craft, and familiar with the use of all equipment, materials, and procedures necessary for the safe erection, modification, and dismantling of all types of scaffolds.
- Must be able to follow directions.
- Must have knowledge of safe work practices.
- The insulator must be highly productive and experienced in all phases of industrial insulation including installation, repair, and removal.
- Willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
Preferred Requirements and Education
- Experience and knowledge in the use of scaffold ratchets, hammers, adjustable wrenches, linesman pliers, tape measure, level, hand saw, band saw, drill, and pry bar hammer is preferred.
