About the role

The Multi-Care Technician I (MCT I) is a vital member of the patient care team at St. Francis–Emory Healthcare, a 376-bed community-connected hospital in Columbus, GA.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient rooms and units by ensuring cleanliness, organization, and safety.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, feeding, and mobility support.
• Monitor vital signs and perform blood glucose checks.
• Document intake and output accurately.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Support nursing station operations by answering phones and managing basic documentation tasks.
• Perform 12-lead EKG testing as directed by nursing staff or providers.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care team members.
• Support infection prevention practices and patient safety protocols.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient care and unit operations.

Requirements

• Safety guidelines for lifting, moving, and assisting patients and equipment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills used in healthcare settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support patient-centered care.
• Familiarity with infection prevention practices and hospital safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a postsecondary certificate, diploma, or program in Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Emergency Medical Technician certification required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required upon hire or within facility-specified timeframe.
• One (1) or more years of patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
