Mule Skinner, Cloud Camp

About the role

Cloud Camp is a high-altitude, all-inclusive adult getaway located at 9,000 ft. It offers world-class food and beverage, daily activities, and luxurious accommodations. The Mule Skinner position involves guiding mule rides, ensuring mules are cared for, and maintaining the mule barn.

Responsibilities

• Guide mule rides matching the Broadmoor's 5-star, 5-diamond standards.
• Ensure mules receive appropriate feeding, basic medical care, and are kept in good health.
• Answer guest questions and make riders feel safe and welcome.
• Provide interesting facts and information about mules, Cloud Camp, and The Broadmoor.
• Collaborate with mules to train them for safe, reliable transportation.
• Maintain a journal for Mule Skinner staff regarding daily trips to/from Cloud Camp.
• Maintain inventory and ensure security for all inventory related to the Mule Skinner service.
• Report all necessary repairs and safety issues to Managers promptly.
• Aid other positions to ensure smooth operations of Cloud Camp.
• Assist with any other duties as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to two years of equine care and guiding experience (horses or mules).
• Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic personality.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 65 lbs. and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License preferred for assisting with guest activities.

• Willingness to work in a high-altitude environment (above 9,000 ft.).
• Ability to stand for long periods and walk.
• Use hands to handle, grip, point, feel, and reach.
• Talk and hear.
• Sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
