MULCHER-MACHINE OPERATOR

About the role

This position supports pallet recycling operations by operating grinding equipment to convert unusable pallet wood into mulch material safely and efficiently. The Mulcher helps ensure production goals are met while maintaining quality standards and supporting overall yard and plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate mulch grinding and processing equipment to convert unusable pallet wood into mulch material safely and efficiently
• Sort and inspect scrap pallet wood to remove metal, debris, and non-processable materials prior to grinding
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area
• Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
• Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventative maintenance on grinders, conveyors, and related machinery
• Assist with loading, stacking, transporting, and storing mulch products and scrap materials using forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to lift wooden pallets which weigh about 50 lbs. on a regular basis
• Previous lumber, warehouse, construction, carpentry, landscaping, roofing experience highly preferred
• Quick hands, attention to detail, commitment to quality
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work overtime as needed

Qualifications

• Ability to work in extreme conditions to include, but not limited to, elements, heat, cold, and air particulate
• Repetitively lift up to 50-75 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts of varying lengths in time
