Troubleshooting and Diagnostics

The Motor Shop Technician will trouble shoot and diagnose the problems of equipment brought to the maintenance shop. This includes assembling and disassembling directional motors and other oilfield drilling components, performing all tests and repairs in compliance with the manufacturer's service manual and bulletins, and ensuring quality control of parts.

Repair and Overhaul

The technician will perform entire disassembly and reassembly of equipment to pristine condition. They will also ensure all tools and test equipment are fully serviceable before starting repair work and account for them after each repair.

Non-Technical Duties

• Routine house cleaning of the yard and shop spaces and equipment
• Cleaning equipment
• Moving equipment around the yard
• Participating in various meetings, trainings, and development activities

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

• Safely operate forklift to move equipment around the yard
• Ensure yard and shop spaces are clean and organized
• Ensure all equipment is clean and in good working order

Communication and Documentation

• Communicate effectively, including reading, writing, and speaking English, and promptly following verbal and written directions
• Document inspections, test results, repair work done, and parts replaced for proper billing and record keeping

Physical Demands and Safety

• Use a variety of hand and power tools to perform mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tools
• Safely navigate the yard and shop work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather)
• Operate heavy equipment
• Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces
• Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas

Skills and Education

• Clear written and verbal communication skills including ability to promptly give and follow directions
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
• Willingness to be on call after hours, work extended schedules, including extra days, occasional nights, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 6+ months of stable related work history
• Previous Motor Shop experience, including painting experience
• Quality control experience with vector gauges and RA meter and other measurement equipment
